2010 Convention Information

TAU EPSILON RHO LAW SOCIETY CELEBRATES ITS 90^TH ANNUAL CONVENTION WITH A CARDOZO AWARD PRESENTATION TO JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG

        TER will open its 90^th Annual National Convention this December with the presentation of the Benjamin Nathan Cardozo Memorial Award to United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Justice Ginsburg will accept the award on Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Cardozo Award Dinner, the convention's opening event.

        This year’s convention will be held at the Naples Grande Beach Resort, part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection Hotel Group, a first class resort facility located in Naples , FL on the beautiful Gulf Coast .  The Convention will run from December 27^th through January 1, 2011, but our special bargain convention room rates will be available from December 22^nd through January 4^th for those wishing to extend their stay. The special room rate for TER convention registrants and their guests is $225.00 per night, single or double occupancy (children under age 15 stay free in their parents’ room). The hotel also charges a daily resort charge, normally $27.00 per night, but reduced to $10.00 per night for our group. Included in the Resort Charge are unlimited local and U.S. calls; covered self parking; use of fitness center; daily newspaper; in-room coffee; internet access; lounge chairs at the beach; beach tram service; and use of the computers in the hotel lobby. This is a full service resort and has golf, tennis and a full service spa.  TER members will be entitled to a discount at the spa. You can also call the hotel’s room reservation department using their toll-free number 1-888-722-1270, making sure you request the special TER room rate or by using the reservation group code “AASJ.”  A deposit equal to one (1) night’s room and tax will be required at the time you book your reservation. This deposit will be refunded provided your cancellation is received at least seven (7) days prior to your scheduled arrival.  The hotel reservation cutoff date is DECEMBER 1^st; and reservations made after that date will be accepted by the hotel on a space available basis.  This special room rate is available to everyone who registers for the convention and family related guests of TER Members who register for the convention.  

At the opening Cardozo Award Dinner on December 27^th, Justice Ginsburg has suggested a program in which she will answer questions from an interviewer and then the audience.  We will also present a CLE program for convention registrants for up to six (6) CLE credit hours applying to the states of Pennsylvania , New York , Illinois , Ohio , New Jersey and Florida for formal state accreditation.  The cost of CLE program and any filing fees are included in the convention fee. The closing dinner event concluding the convention will take place on December 30^th.

For the advance pre-paid convention fee of $550.00 per couple ($275.00 per single) paid on or before December 1, 2010*, you will be entitled to receive the following:

1.      room accommodations at the Naples Grande Beach Resort at the rates set forth above;

2.      reception and dinner at the Cardozo Awards Dinner on December 27^th;

3.      continental breakfasts and all fees related to the CLE programs tentatively scheduled for the mornings of December 28^th and 30^th;

4.      closing dinner on December 30^th; and

5.      hospitality suite availability every night during the convention where light beverages and snacks will be available.

* $650.00 per couple if received after December 1, 2010.
